Welcome to another PluginIndia musings episode. This time we’ll be talking about the top issues in the Indian EV industry and why these need to be resolved ASAP to ensure the industry grows and, more important, people start trusting and using electric vehicles.
A survey commissioned by Climate Trends and carried out by FourthLion Technologies reveals that 87 percent of the respondents believe reducing air pollution is the best reason to purchase an electric vehicle. The survey was conducted online between August 21-24 among 2,178 Indian drivers, vehicle owners and those who plan to purchase, own or drive a vehicle in the next 10 years.
75% of respondents support a target of at least 50% of all vehicles in India to be electric by 2030.

The Leaf is the best-selling electric car in the world1. It’s a battery-operated, all electric five door hatchback. Although it has a footprint of a compact car, the interiors feel like a mid-size car: roomy with a decent sized boot space. Artem Energy Future Pvt Ltd, a home-grown electric vehicle technology company has announced the Artem M9 -- the world’s safest electric scooter. The M9 will include unprecedented ADAS (advanced driver-assistance systems) previously seen only in luxury cars.
The vehicle is being developed with several industry firsts: 90kmph top speed, 0-50kmph in 6 seconds and a range of 100 kms. per charge. Artem is taking a unique approach to EV practicality by allowing the M9 to be charged by an on-board fast charger, as well by swapping batteries.
