EV technology has come a long way since 1914 and today, we are certain of EV's becoming mainstream in the next 5-10 years.
Globally, EV sales are growing at a rate of 85% year on year with 112050 pure EVs being sold in 2013 alone.
Despite challenges, EV manufactures are leveraging breakthrough technologies and EV's are increasingly emerging as the next generation, intelligent mode of mobility which is most convenient and cost effective - especially for city driving. Efficiency, connectivity, use of lightweight materials, focus on development of a ‘power train’ that delivers better price to performance ratio are on the minds of not just the EV manufacturers but more so, on the wish-list of a well-informed, mature consumer who looks at mobility differently. Consumers today are drawn to intelligence and digitisation of products including vehicles.
Mahindra Reva has been in the forefront of technology advancements making EV's smarter and increasingly desirable. We have deeply committed ourselves to offering the best of the EV technologies and innovations to our consumers.
To keep up the promise, we have been delivering a new, improved variant every year, with the new premium Mahindra e2o being the most recent one. Besides developing newer variants, Mahindra Reva would also focus on powering Mahindra & Mahindra range of products with EV technology. To begin with, we would look at developing electric versions of Verito & Maxximo.
On 13 September 2014, we will be participating in the all-electric global race – the FIA Formula E Championship, starting in Shanghai. Mahindra is the only manufacturer from India participating in this one of its kind electric race and it is a proud moment not only for us but for every Indian. We are very excited to extend EV technology to the Formula E platform and are looking forward to cheering the Indian team.
Strengthening the eco-system for fostering EV adoption has been one of our top priorities as well. Being the only EV manufacturer in India, we have solely installed over 300 regular charging points across the country thus far and hope to install about 50 Quick2Charge ports in the next 12 months to further alleviate the range anxiety of consumers.
We have also taken up the mammoth task of doing everything possible to enhance the awareness levels of EVs in India. The support of Indian EV community has always been very important to us and it is very heartening to see groups like PluginIndia becoming instrumental in spreading the message to a wider community.
I thank PluginIndia for their commendable efforts and being a part of the EV movement.
Wishing the PluginIndia team continued success!”
