Days 5, 6 and 7 of our Chalo Dilli tour was all about meeting people!
We met an EV pioneer - Ms Rita Nahata, based out of Delhi, who drove a DC Reva, then a Revai, then an e2o and now the e2o Plus. We recorded some great stories and insights by Rita on her EV journey. We met the Managing Director of Terra Motors India, Mr Akihiro Ueda. Then we visited the factory of Chinese battery manufacturer of Lithium-Ion battery packs - Coslight, who have invested in India in Manesar. During the last day of our trip, we visit the headquarters of Okinawa scooters!

Meeting an EV Pioneer

Farah Halim and I drove our electric car to Bijwasan, near the Haryana border, and visited the farm house belonging to Ms Rita Nahata, who has been driving electric cars since 2001!  Rita shared great stories about owning and using a DC charger based Reva, a Revai, an e2o and now the e2o Plus. The video will come out soon in our YouTube channel.

Meeting Mr Akihiro Ueda of Terra Motors

We met the Managing Director of Terra Motors India, Mr Akihiro Ueda at Starbucks in the HUDA Metro Station at Gurgaon.
Mr Ueda was great fun to speak to. Terra Motors only have e-Rickshaws built with Lead Acid batteries for Indian market. These e-Rickshaws are made in India. He also said that they plan to launch Lithium-Ion based e-Scooters for the Indian market by this year end. The video will come out soon in our
YouTube channel.

Visiting Coslight

Next day we drive to Manesar, south of Gurgaon. We met with Mr Varun of URV Enterprises, whom we featured in our day 3 and 4 blog. His company shares a building with a Chinese battery manufacturing company called Coslight.  They have established a manufacturing facility at Manesar.  They are doing business of around 500 crores from selling Li-Ion battery packs to Telecom clients in India. Coslight China manufacturers batteries that run Electric Buses, Electric Cars etc.
Indian market is only for telecom, but they are convinced to get into making batteries for the Indian EV market, although they came across as cautious about EVs in India.  They kept asking me questions on market for EV's!  But nevertheless it was great to visit a battery assembly factory and understand processes of testing and creating battery packs.  The video will come out soon in our YouTube channel.

Visiting Okinawa Scooters HeadQuarters

Next day we drive to sector 48 of Gurgaon to visit the HQ of Okinawa scooters. The ridge performed great and was a hit in our Industry-Community meetup.
Here we decided to meet the MD of Okinawa Mr Jeetender Sharma. They are launching Li-Ion based variant of the Ridge soon. Also they are going to launch an electric motorbike next year.  Lots to expect from this company. The video will come out soon in our YouTube channel.

Final Words
All in all, this was a great trip for PlugInIndia. Visiting the Industry and also meeting up with the Delhi EV community.
We drove for around 700+ km in an electric car all over NCR without emitting local emissions!
We hope to work with these companies for many years to come.  This is just the beginning!
