Video Review

Toutche is an eBike company based in Mysore. The PluginIndia team recieved the Lightweight eBike called the Heileo H200
This eBike does not need licence or registration.

Here are some photos of the Toutche Heileo.

Can this eBike be a practical personal mobility solution?  Read on!

So here is our take on the Toutche Heileo eBike :

Styling & Looks : 6 out of 6

  • [+1] The The Battery fits in snugly in the frame. It does not even look like there is one.

  • [+1] The design is an eye catching one. The thin top bar gives a feeling of lightness.

  • [+1] Thin tyres and thin frame add to the sexiness.

  • [+1] Wires are tucked in nicely into the frame. Although the front connectors should be clamped together.

  • [+1] Black and red theme is good aesthetics.

  • [+1] The frame, handle bar, downtime are of high quality.

Performance & Ride : 4 out of 6

  • [+1] The first thing you notice when you start riding is the lightness. Compared to MTB eBikes, the H-200 feels light and nimble when you ride.

  • [+1] Provision of having an accelerator throttle is helpful in slow moving traffic and works very well.
    - In slow moving traffic, you should use the accelerator and turn down the PAS levels.

  • [0] No front shock absorber, which makes things light but you do feel the bumps and shocks as you ride.

  • [+1]  The Pedal Assist Sensor is designed to be conservative and the motor assist kicks in only after 1-2 pedals. But it's not a major issue.

  • [+1]  I was impressed with the cycle components. The mechanical disk brakes, the Shimano gear system, the front suspension work very well.
    • The e-Bike has fantastic cycle components, which ensures a good ride quality.

  • [0] Speed feels limiting for some reason. Even without the battery power, we can't hit speeds of 30 kmph on a flat road. That felt disappointing.
    • Something needs to change, the gearing could have been more.
    • The number of teeth can be increased in the front crank for additional performance. Currently there are 36 teeth. It could go up to 42+.

Efficiency & Range : 8 out of 8

  • [+1] We used the bike for 2 weeks and for short commutes nearby and we did not even need to charge.
    - The 374.4 Whr (36V * 10.4Ah) lithium ion battery pack is large enough not to worry about range.

  • [+1] We can confidenlty say that way using only Pedal Assist we can achieve 70 km per charge.

  • [+1] The status of charge is shown in the LED panel and also in the battery pack in form of power bars.

  • [+1] The Toutche Helios H200 only consumes 0.37 units (kWh) of electricity when fully charged.
    • Very good economy for those who decide to use it as a means of daily commute.

  • [+1] The eBike weights 18 kgs, which is one of the lightest eBikes we have ever ridden.
    • All the weight saved increases efficiency.

  • [+1] 6 Speed gears are an added advantage. When climbing a bridge, many times go to lowest gear and only start electric assist only when i really need it.
    • Although we would really like to see eBikes with 21 speed gears. We miss having the front deraulier when taking the eBike on long rides.

  • [+1] Test ride 1: Sus Gaon Hill Road - Climbing a hilly road is no problem at all
  • [+1] Test ride 2: Talegaon to Baner, Pune Hill Road - This was a 24 km ride on the highway and there were no issues encountered.

Charging : 2 out of 3

  • [+1] The Charger provided charges the battery in socket fits in well.
  • [+1]  The charging rate is good and charges the battery in 2.5 hours.
  • [0] Could be worried about water ingress - as the bike we received had no covering to the socket.
However Toutche team showed us photos where the rubber cover is present on the battery. Lets see if the rubber cover remains sturdy over long term use.

Pricing and Availability : 3 out of 4

  • [+1] The Helios H200 offers good value for commutes and occasional weekend rides outside your city.
  • [+1] The Toutche eBike is available online via website the company provides phone or email support and ships nationwide.
  • [+1] The Toutche team are in the process of appointing dealers and we will update this space with the details.
  • [0] We Still feel that for a price of Rs 53,999, the Toutche team could have added disc brakes, LCD display and Safety Lights to the H200.

Extra Features : 3 out of 5

  • [+1] Shimano SIS index gear system is a blast to use!
  • [+1] The LED Panel is simple and functional.
  • [+1] Tring Tring! A nice little bells is an extra creature comfort!
  • [0] We would have preferred a basic LCD Display with speed indicator.
  • [0] No safety lights or an electric horn.

Long Term Ownership Details

- Tyre wear would be high on the Helios H200, as the widths are narrow. This is something to think about.

- This eBike would be one of the most efficient in terms of amount of electricity consumed, due to the low weight the conservative design
used both in Pedal Assist and Throttle modes

- The company is definitely in it for the long run. They are planning to have regular updates to their eBikes and also plan to launch other eMobility products

Final thoughts

So final thoughts, the Toutche team have done a great job in bringing a quality Hybrid e-Bike for the Indian market.
The cycle components are of high quality I would be comfortable taking this eBike on out of city rides to.
We loved the feeling of lightness when riding the Helios H200.

As always ride safe and always wear a helmet!  Over and Out!
