Why harness energy using solar panels?

  • The cost of installing and extracting electricity from Solar Panels in India has become cheaper than from conventional power plants.  As of 2013, un-subsidized solar power is ALREADY competitive with fossil fuels in India, Hawaii, Italy and Spain.
  • India receives excellent sunlight for 300 days out of 365! India can generate more power from the same Solar cell than many of the developed countries in the world due to its geography. We have to utilize this advantage.
  • Other countries who receive lesser amount of sunlight for far lesser part of the year have installed more panels than India.
  • It is well established that the time required to install a solar power plant is cheaper than either coal based, gas based, hydro or nuclear Power Plant.
  • The maintenance requirement is minimal.  The solar power plant can function without much repair for a long time.
  • The growing cost of grid power in India and rise in fuel prices.
  • Its environment friendly.
