Team PluginIndia
EO, which stands for 'electricity online', is a UK based company that manufactures EVSE's. They have presence in 22 countries all over the world. Their motto is to build superior charging equipment, backed up with unbelievable customer service.
They have entered the Indian EV scene and are primed to setup a manufacturing facility and a distribution network.

The PluginIndia team has been consulting with EO UK, especially with Mr Charlie Jardine - founder of EO Chargers, over the last 2-3 months.  The objective of the project with EO was to
  • Setup EO Chargers with Indian conditions
  • Test the EO Chargers with Indian EV's
    • Test the chargers against electric cars, electric two wheelers
  • Discuss about manufacturing partners
  • Start setting up distribution network
  • Take some videos, publish to the world about EO India

Some of the above mentioned tasks are still going on. We still will be working with EO UK in the coming months, while the EO India team is being created.

EO AC Chargers can charge from 3.6 kW all the way upto 22 kW. But as Indian electric vehicles, charge at rate of 2 kW or below, they are launching only the 3.6 kW and 7.2 kW single phase variants as shown in below table.
These chargers support overCurrent protection, earth leakage protection and are EU CE Certified for compliance. These smart chargers are the safest way to charge your EV.
Also the EOGenius charger supports software based remote monitoring with EOCloud and EOApp.
You can connect 1 EOHub device with upto 30 EOGenius chargers. This makes adding intelligence to chargers very easy. All chargers can be remotely monitored and controlled. Also owners of the charging stations can login to the website and can set how they will get paid. If they want to offer free charging or if they want to set a fixed rate for an interval.

Our Impressions
The EO chargers have awesome build quality and the blue, green LED's look really good. We tested them against few electric cars for short top-ups, overnight charging and the charger just works.
There are tons of software features like monitoring power loads, setting up schedules etc.

There are some challenges too. The EO uses Stripe payment gateway and the EOApp for authentication and making payments.
In India, not everyone has a credit card, maybe EO will need to consider integrations with PayTM or other digital wallets to make things simpler.

Do read about the variants of EO chargers in the Smart Charger EVSE section of our website. The company is working out pricing and other details in the coming weeks. We will be releasing videos of these chargers, in our YouTube channel, in a staggered manner. We will also be doing in-depth reviews, testing them against varied EV's and will be documenting the features of these chargers.

So lots of more to come from PluginIndia and the EO team!
Let the Indian smart and safe charging journey begin!

Guys, stop confusing people. Those are not chargers but charging points vel Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE).
The real charger is actually on vehicle's board and those charging points are only supplying AC current that will be converted to charge the battery somewhere else.
A charger would connect directly to the battery mains and deliver the current directly.

We did mention EVSE multiple times in the article.

Yes, you did. Once in reference to the promoted company. And the title states it is about chargers.
To be fair, it would be nice if you begun text with explaining what is the difference between EVSE and the charger.

So we have blogged about EVSEs and onboard chargers in the past. We have referenced the article at the bottom here.

We don't have to repeat information, right?

Even though the technical term is EVSE, many people even from the company prefer the 'consumer' name - Charger.

What do u propose? We are open to suggestions.
Using and acronym that needs explaining can be confusing.

Straighten up the facts. Even in the reference article you are misleading readers. See the quote:
" EVSE is a smart charger"
No is not. It is a charging point, a socket in the wall with basic communication abilities to
for one limit the car's on-board charger power if the source is not capable of supplying the full demand (in the opposite situation it doesn't matter).
Second, be a part (if needed) of communication platform that will provide services in form of informing about the process progress, abnormalities, control the locking mechanism for the sockets and handle the cost&billing for the service if any.
For the car it doesn't matter, AC current is AC current, the on-board charger does the rest.
I value Plug in India for the efforts but I will always be prick on details and mistakes.

Fair enough.
I have made that change of sentence ("EVSE is a smart charger") in the reference article.
Although the paragraph above it, we did mention and talk a lot about the function of the EVSE.

Thank you. We welcome your contributions.

Please do not encourage me, Mr. Mallick, otherwise next time I'm in Pune I will occupy your office and force to correct whole blog's articles!
Have a good day!

This is interesting. We wish EO good luck.
I'am sure these smart chargers will be expensive.

EV's are already expensive, why should a home owners spend money on a smart charger, when i can directly connect to a 15 Amp socket.
