Strom Motors has launched a reverse trike compact electric car, Strom - R3 on Sunday 8th April in Mumbai at Infiniti Mall, Malad.

- The design of a reverse trike has not excited many people among the EV community and followers of PluginIndia. Something about the design, does not seem right among many people, whom we spoke to. Would you get laughed at every-time, you use this?
Petrol heads already look down upon EV's and such designs will ensure, EV's will continue to get laughed at.- My opinion is that, our cities are becoming a mess and we certainly don't need large SUV's or Sedans with 1 or 2 people riding in them for 90% of the time.
- So we need to think different and i applaud Strom Motors for the bravery in launching this.
- I spoke to the founder of the company and some team members from Storm. All of them are super technical and have had rich embedded software experience in India and in the USA.
- So regarding software, they have promised a super intelligent electric car with over the air software updates, proactively detecting cell issues or any electronics issues, they will contact customers if they see a problem (unlike Mahindra Electric's reactive approach).
- The dashboard inside the car, where u can lots of data, efficiency numbers etc. Tech Stuff that every true EV enthusiast will love.
- The body material they said is Fibre (not carbon Fibre)
- 13 kw BLDC Motor in the Rear
- 6 kWh battery pack that goes 80 km. However, there are battery options with range upto 120 km.
- There is a Frunk for to keep basic grocery and luggage items.
- They did not allow us inside - but they have invited us after a month or so for drive videos.
- Panels are fabricated in Indore. Assembly factory is near Mumbai. RnD and office in Mumbai.
- The quality and stability of the drive, remains to be seen. I'm also curious about the regenerative braking performance.
- We hope to visit their office, soon and get a test drive video soon.

- By using small sized personal transport which will lead to lesser carbon footprint

- By being super tech savvy and ensuring Strom customers will get a software rich, true EV experience
