The growth and expansion of a reliable charging infrastructure is circle to facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles in our country. While Zeon charging installs high powered chargers that are capable of charging four-wheelers and heavier vehicles, the Ather Grid is today used predominantly for charging Ather scooters and other two-wheelers. With Ather Energy opening its proprietary charging connector in August earlier this year, the Ather Grid will also be available to two-wheelers manufactured by other OEMs in the future. Having both these installations at one location brings in a lot of synergy in terms of power availability, backend infrastructure, and the capability of charging all electric vehicles.
Mr. Nilay Chandra, VP - Marketing and Charging Infrastructure, Ather Energy said, "Ather Energy is one of the few electric vehicle manufacturers who also invests in building a charging infrastructure. Ather Energy's public charging network, the Ather Grid, is one of India's largest two-wheeler fast-charging networks. The Ather Grid has now entered the next phase of expansion. We have already reached 250+ touchpoints and with the launch of our new product, we will now expand to reach 500+ locations by March 2022. This partnership with Zeon Charging helps us build synergies in charging locations that each partner has for four-wheeler and two-wheeler consumers respectively. As a result, we will be able to make our charging stations more accessible to EV users, thereby encouraging EV adoption across the country"

About Ather Energy :
Ather Energy, one of India's first intelligent electric vehicle manufacturers was founded in 2013 by IIT Madras alumni, Tarun Mehta, and Swapnil Jain. It is backed by the founders of Flipkart -Sachin Bansal & Binny Bansal- Hero Motocorp and Tiger Global. Ather Energy launched India's first truly intelligent, electric scooter - Ather 450 in 2018, followed by their new flagship offering Ather 450X in 2020. Ather has also installed a comprehensive public charging network, Ather Grid, designed and built-in India. With 250+ charging points across India, Ather Grid is one of the largest fast-charging networks for electric vehicles in the country. The company's product line has won 37 awards in design, automotive, and technology categories. With 58 Indian and international patent applications, 109 trademarks, and 118 Indian and International design registrations to its name, Ather Energy aims to provide consumers with the best possible ownership experience. Ather Energy currently operates in 23 cities including Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Jaipur, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Mysore, and Hubli
The two big issues with charging infrastructure is the real estate required and also the electricity load needed to be setup for charging. It is better for companies to band together and share their locations instead of working in silos. This will ensure more footfalls and more charging sessions, which will benefit the EV community and the operators.
Great idea, this by both Zeon and Ather. We need to see more of this happening.
