Electric Vehicle News

Batt:RE, the Jaipur based electric scooter manufacturer has unveiled a new product - an electric vehicle charging equipment. This equipment will enable any business to install simple charge points at their premises. This will ensure all electric vehicles to charge in a simple manner and enable businesses to offer and monetize EV charging service.
The Batt:RE RE:Charge charging equipment is a simple and inexpensive solution for business owners, shops and parking areas to offer EV charging to EV owners. Batt:RE will be selling the equipment at a cost of Rs 3,000. There is an option of an LED signage for advertising. That can be excluded for an even cheaper variant at Rs 2,400. The equipment has the following features.
  • Earthing check
  • MCB switch for safety
  • Power consumption measurement
  • 3.3 kW max power at 16 amps
  • 3 pin socket
  • Remote Power On/Off via app
  • Energy Meter
  • Auto timer cutoff for time bound charging
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Find nearest charger via BattRE Charger
  • Track time taken
  • Cashless payment via UPI
  • Multi Color LED which indicates On/Off status, network status and error status.

Any business owner can purchase, setup using the app and offer charging to EV owners. The business owner can set the hourly cost for EV charging via the mobile app. For an EV owner who needs to charge their vehicle, there are essentially, 4 steps

  • Locate RE:Charge station in the map
  • Scan the QR code
  • Pay using UPI
  • Start charging

The Batt:RE team plans to setup 500 RE:Charge equipments in multiple locations pan India. This also will be available in Amazon and other digital platforms. The service comes with no monthly fee for business owners who purchase the equipment till March 21. Batt:RE will charge a small nominal fee of Rs 0.25 per hour (to be decided), after March 2021.

PluginIndia's Take
The Batt:RE team keeps surprising us with the connected tech features in their products. Their partnership with REVOS has ensured Batt:RE products offers a very strong technology platform to their customers. REVOS is a Bengaluru based startup which offers smart AI-enabled IoT Solutions. The REVOS platform offers vehicle control, analysis and visualization features. They seem to be working with multiple EV manufacturers like Okinawa, Miracle and more apart from Batt:RE.

This simple charging solution from Batt:RE is much needed for India. Most AC charging equipment sold in India are expensive. They have expensive meters, power management, software and safety features. While traditional Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE's) for electric cars have their place in the market, there is a growing need for an inexpensive solution for businesses who want to offer EV charging service at their premises. This RE:Charge device from Batt:RE offers a lot of potential.

We congratulate the Batt:RE team on this cool and affordable EV charging solution.
