Ola Electric likely to launch their new electric Appscooters in July. They are also planning to sell their scooters to Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL), a government owned company.
This July, Ola Electric are likely to launch their electric scooter. The company has not revealed any details like price and specs yet but is rumoured to be based on their Etergo's Appscooter and will give 100km range on a single charge.
Ola Electric has announced a ₹2,400 crore investment for its upcoming electric vehicle facility in Krishnagiri near Tamil Nadu. Manufacturing unit will have the capacity of 2 Million units p.a. and will be completed soon. Their scooters are expected to compete with Ather's 450x. The company has already started deploying its 'Hypercharger Network' across the Indian cities which includes 1,00,000 (one Lakh) charging points across 400 cities in India. "To get adoption of electric vehicles, a strong charging network is required. Today, one of the key infrastructure gaps in our country is charging network. (Our) Hyper-charger Network will be the largest fast charging network for two-wheelers across 400 cities and towns and we will be building more than 1,00,000 charging points as part of this network," Bhavesh Agrawal said. On the other hand, Ola Electric is also fetching some government orders from Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL). The company wants to makes its presence felt in government sector and push electric, green mobility. An Ola spokesperson said: “We welcome all government measures that enable faster adoption of EV. The recent FAME-II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) amendments was one such great move that will help make electric two-wheelers affordable. Similarly, the CESL procurement for states will help bring electric two-wheelers to a large number of consumers. We are in discussions with several organizations including CESL to bring our EVs to as many consumers as possible." |

PluginIndia's Take
The Ola Electric Scooter hype is unreal man! We are happy that OLA is already working on government orders. They have to show good numbers in terms of sales to justify their huge investment.
We feel that Ola has already built some 50-100 charging stations all over India and will reveal them all during the July event. Just like what Elon Musk did when he unveiled the Superchargers!
