‘Switch Delhi’ is a mass awareness campaign that aims to sensitize each Delhiite about the benefits of switching to electric vehicles on the environment as well as to make them aware of the incentives and infrastructure being developed by Delhi's EV policy.
The campaign tends to educate , encourage and motivate every person in Delhi to switch from Polluting ICE vehicles to EV's which are emission free. All the hired cars being engaged by various departments of the Delhi government will switch to EV's within six months. The main goal of this campaign is to reduce the pollution in Delhi which plagues the residents on a daily basis. "To address the vehicular pollution in Delhi, in August 2020, the Delhi government notified the landmark Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy. It has been called the most progressive EV policy in India and among the best globally. Our vision is that by 2024, 25 per cent of new vehicles must be electric. Approximately ₹30,000 subsidies are to be given for 2/3-wheelers while ₹1.5 lakh for 4-wheelers. We are starting the 'Switch Delhi' campaign today to make people aware of clean vehicles." Kejriwal added. The subsidy will be directly transferred to the buyers bank account within three days of the purchase. The Delhi government has also made road tax and registration for EV's free and plans to add 100 charging stations for convenient charging of the new EV's that are going to replace pollution vehicles in the state. The CM has also requested fleet companies to change their entire Fleets to EV's and add multiple charging station at their premises. Malls, Restaurants are also being encouraged to do the same. |

Amazing! This is the first time we are seeing a state government actively incentivizing the use of electric vehicles and this is also the time when a state minister is pleading to the citizens of Delhi to stop using pollution vehicles and switch to electric. With so much support from the Delhi government, the ICE OEM Mafia must be really wetting themselves! As we recently saw TVS launch their iQube electric scooter in Delhi only, expect these ICE OEM's to launch compliance EV's only Delhi.
The next step for the Delhi government is to setup regulations for all vehicle OEM's to mandatorily have EV's in their portfolio and also having punitive measures for companies that don't sell even a single EV.
Hats off to the Delhi government. This is huge for the EV revolution.
