Karnataka's CM B S Yediyurappa has promised to support Triton Electric vehicles. He said
"Karnataka government is very keen to support entry of new-age firms like Triton Electric Vehicles and all assistance will be provided with complete customized facilitation," the Chief Minister said. He explained that an EV cluster in Ramanagara is being created over 500 acres which will offer a strong and concentrated EV ecosystem.
Himanshu Patel, CEO and Founder of Triton Electric, held a virtual meeting with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa. The company wants to launch the N4 sedan in India with the starting price of Rs.35 lakhs. Recently the company registered the Indian subsidiary by the name of Triton Electric Vehicles India in New Delhi.
The CEO of Triton Himanshu Patel expressed interest to invest in the state and said he will visit India shortly after another round of discussions.
So Triton Electric. Who are they?
Triton Electric is a New Jersey,USA registered company. If we look at their website, they have computer aided design(CAD) drawings of all kinds of EV's - A sedan, an electric SUV, a Semi truck, a rickshaw and defense electric vehicles.
Wait! CAD drawings and no real photos or specifications or videos of their vehicles. Nope.
Now this concerns us because we are not sure about the company's ability to manufacture vehicles and here we see that there are discussions going on with a chief minister of India. If the government does not do due diligence and offers investment opportunity to companies with no credibility and track record of making EV's, we will loose in the long run. We emailed the company and got no response as of April 2021.
